For a short trip, take Kern to Greenshield. Cross M24 and do the rest of Greenshield. Greenshield is a nice road with a nice canopy in summer.
When I go DSing from Warren, I take Dequindre to the end, go left, head north-ish, and from there I can stay on dirt for >90% of the time all the way up into Lapeer Co. NNE of Lapeer is some state land. Look for Roods Lk, Five Lakes Rd, Vernor, and most importantly Byers Rd all kind of in the same area.
Byers is not maintained. The 4x4s go there to tear it up. That’s about the limit of my riding skills there come spring. Be very careful of the big puddles (small ponds) across the road, never know what some drunken 4×4 driver threw in there to get traction.
PM me come spring, we’ll ride.
