Although only 20 miles long, this road hugs the eastern shoreline of lake Michigan through a dense forest.  On one side you get a glimpse of old summer cabin homes and on the other side, you see the glorious Lake Michigan shoreline. Lotsa twisties!! Heading north, the route leads to Cross Village, home of a unique turn of the century field stone and driftwood Polish Pub called Leggs Inn which sits on a bluff over Lake Michigan.

Registration is $40 for RA members, $50 for non-members, plus meals on Friday evening and Saturday evening are extra, payable at registration. PREREGISTRATION SAVES YOU $$$. Admission is $15 more at the gate, meals cost $1 more and shirts are $4 extra.     Register here.

This is an easy to medium gravel and back road ride. There will be deep gravel through rolling and scenic forest roads, and some twisty pavement. There are a few creek crossings (with work arounds if you don’t want to try them or if the weather is bad). We will throw in a few sightseeing opportunities, possibly including the fire tower, the Knightsridge Space Observatory ruins, and the Empire State Quarry. Newbies are required to climb the fire tower, in full gear.

There will be a ride down, on Friday for those that can make it. We will stay in Plainville, Indiana on Friday night. The real ride starts Saturday morning from Plainville to Tell City, IN with a route of about 250 miles. We will stay Saturday night in Tell City, departing Sunday morning to ride to Shelbyville, another 250-mile route. The ride leaders can stay overnight in Shelbyville and ride home Monday. Others may wish to ride home Sunday night.  The planned routes to Plainville and back from Shelbyville follow state and county roads with little or no freeway. There could be stretches of gravel, but these will not be “adventure” routes.

This is a TCD favorite, and we're heading back to Interlochen to view some magnificent fall foliage.  The official camp location is the Interlochen State Park (tent camping, RV hook-ups and cottages are available) just south of town.  For those who aren't fond of camping there's nearby lodging at the Interlochen Motel, about a mile north of the Interlochen State Park on M-137.   They also have a fire pit right on the property.  Typically, if the weather forecast if favorable, we often have 30 riders attend this event.  If the weather sucks, then only three or four.  We hope for beautiful fall weather.

Please read and follow the Fall Color Tour postings under the Rides Forum
