Has anyone ever rented a bike in Las Vegas, California, or other points in the west? I’m planning a trip there in the coming weeks, and want to get myself on a GS for about 7 days. I checked the BMW dealer in Vegas, but rates are pretty high — $200 or so per day.

Anyone have any recommendations on rental (or routes!) ?

We dealt with them when we rode the AZBDR in November.  They have another location in Colorado.  They’re a bit unique since they allow use of the bikes off-pavement when most places do not.

Has a location in LA and SFO. They don’t allow use off-pavement unless you’re on a tour with them.

I rented an  Africa twin from Great Southwest Moto adventures in Las Vegas.  Curtis Cummings the owner will allow you to take them off road.  He has self-guided tours set up. Give him a call he may give you a deal on a weekly rental. You can also rent wolfman saddle bags and tank bag from him.

I rented a 1200GS from Eagle Rider in San Francisco ~8 years ago.  It was a good experience.   I slabbed down the I5 to my brother’s house in Van Nuys, then took the Pacific Coast Highway back the next morning.  I had to bribe the kid running the shop to keep it open for a few hours longer to let me finish return leg.

I laughed at the big warning sign on their rental agreement: “Nicht Diesel!”  You would think the German tourists would know….

Thanks gents. Staying on pavement since I’m going solo through Yosemite, so I went with EagleRider. Will report back on my rental experience 🙂
